Weight loss or weight gain is achieved through energy balance! No matter what diet you choose, that is always the formula for success. If the energy you consume is more than you expend, you will gain and if you consume less, you will lose.



NUTRITION FACTS
There is no quick fix to long term healthy goals! If your goal is to lose weight, you are able to lose that weight quickly through extreme calorie deficits. However bringing your body back into balance so that you don't regain that weight, will take some time as well as recovering the muscle loss that you suffered. Reversely, if you are trying to gain healthy weight it will take time and effort, without packing on fat.
A balanced sustainable diet is more important and beneficial than restrictive dieting. Unless you are a competitive athlete, restricting joy out of your diet is more harmful. This leads to an unsustainable diet with an emotional breakdown of over indulgence followed by a vicious circle of guilt and more over indulgence.
Every person is unique, and that includes what they need when it comes to food. Factors that need to be considered when giving nutritional advice/guidance include but are not limited to: goals, age, gender, body mass, body type, stress, sleeping patterns, work, type of exercise, time of exercise, family, location, allergies and food preferences.
